I have my brooder and baby chicks in my master bathroom. We are still using the shower in there and i'm wondering if the steam from the shower can harm them.

Also i need to clean in there but i'm afraid to use any cleaners with the chicks.

Sooooooooo is it ok to keep them in there if we are using the shower....they seem fine.....and should i not use any type of cleaners in there while they are in there?

Thanks for any info!!!!!

I wish I could answer these questions for you for certain. The shower thing, I really have no idea. The chemicals, I would be careful with though. My mom and sister's have had parrots in the past and could not use any cleaners around them. One actually died from the cleaners fumes. I keep my brooder in the kids bathroom. When I have needed to clean the bathroom, I have moved the chicks out into the living room, just to be on the safe side of things! I turned on the vent fan and let the bathroom air out for about an hour before I put the brooder and chicks back in the bathroom. Hope this helps!

thought I was the only one that gave up her master bath for baby chicks and ducks..

We still use our shower, doesn't bother them.. when I clean, I jsut move them out to another room, until I'm done...

Something funny, added some water in tub for baby duck to take first swim... well I pull the plug and almost lost one in the drain, cought him just in time...

Thanks guys!!!! I will move the chicks out when i clean the bathroom and i'll leave them in when we shower.

My master bath always becomes the critter hang out.....Our dog had his crate in there when he used one, our kitty was in there when we first got him and now the chicks.

I am feeling better now.......first it was the stray dog having her puppies (now she is MY dog

) then the stray cat having her kittens (same as above) then the orphaned opossum babies and now chicklets......it is amazing what we do for our furry and feathered friends.

Nope I had my girls in there too...until about 24 days old. I just kept the bathroom door open when we took hot showers so that they did not get damp from the steam.

As for cleaners, I moved the brooder and heat lamp into my bedroom, cleaned the bathroom and let it dry and air out well then move the girls back in.
