Brooder setup!

Pics
These chicks are pooping so freaking much I will already need to clean it tommorow
I cleaned my brooder every other day for the first 3 weeks. I have 7 chicks though. But they had a 3' by 2' brooder. Now they're in the garage, in an even bigger 'brooder' It's actually a chicken tractor, which we had for our chicken Jasmine when she had a dog attack her. So it's fairly big. (I can crawl into it, I think 6' long and 4' wide? But they don't actually need that much space)

The one with pasty butt is actually the one pooping the most now, so that's good I guess

Update: chicks eating and drinking well! They occasionally run out of the brooder to grab a snack or drink. Other then that they nap under the brooder. Only one case of pasty butt so far, but I got some warm water and the poop came off. Now all chicks are pooping freely. I'm just hoping the Garage isnt too cold for them! If it is I'll bring them inside. Tommorow I'm taking away the paper towels and letting them use pine shavings instead! I'll keep you guys updated!

Good luck!! I also would recommend using dog pads in the future (if you own dogs that is...they are also not supppper expensive) that way nothing gets in the water and any water spillage is absorbed. Although it looks nice!!! I wish I had a heat plate...:(
Question: How are puppy pads for the chicks to walk on? As good as Paper towels and better than newspaper (Seriously, WHO buys NEWSPAPERS now????)

It is great padding. I use one on the bottom(I never change) and one on the top (I change every morning) this way, any poop, is mostly cleaned, but some poop may fall to the second pad, but still smell fresh. It also helps pad the box so that the chicks have a comfortable place to live.

I like I better than tissue paper because it’s in one piece and you can also buy thicker pads. The thicker, the better for padding and for absorbing liquids
