BROODER thread! Post pics of your brooders!

I was just thinking about this design yesterday....used to have one for the cockatiel and parakeets.....it might still be kicking around somewhere in a junk drawer.
Yeah. Once I made it I was surprised how well it worked. I changed the beer bottle for a plastic coke bottle yesterday, the little red ridge of the coke bottle rests on the edge of the white bottom piece. this makes the water level a little higher.

Yes, finding and maintaining the water level, easy on and off, would be the trickiest part.

ETA I actually just found mine, amazingly was in the first junk drawer I looked in....plastic 'bowl' is rather chewed up, I may play with it tho.

We're on an island, no pet stores here or anything, and everything I order, the shipping costs are insane, so it makes you creative lol. Post a pic once you made yours.

DH and I have been working on our coop brooder for the last couple of weeks. I finished it this morning, and moved my chickies in. They love it! So much more room then my watermelon box! Now I have a permanent place to brood and don't have to use DH's shop.

This is gorgeous!!!

I bet! Happy babies are the best kind. My husband built this to get my 4 girls out of the box brooder and they love it!

I loaded the pic from my phone so I hope it shows!

This is an awesome brooder! Your a lucky lady and so are your happy chicks. Kudos to your hubby. My hubby has been so busy at work so no time to make me a Brooder. I wont have chicks again soon anyway so my cardboard brooder will do fine, but I'm jealous! :)

For a temporary brooder for new baby chicks I found that a lawnmower box (free from local farm stores) makes a great brooder in our basement.

Last year we kept our chicks in there till they were about 8 to 10 weeks old before being moved to their new outside coop.

Thanks @henless and @Craftygirl ! The whole top is actually attached to "legs" that fit snugly into the corners. It lifts right off for easy access to clean out the brooder. Or if I just need to reach in to change out water or fill the feeder I can lift the slanted hatch. And yes, I am a very lucky girl to have my wonderful husband. He works mostly out of town but comes home on the weekend and works on my projects! It surprises even me sometimes.
