Broody Duck Questions

I know! :( I don't really have anything to compare it to so I'm not sure how loud they are, but they can be quite vocal, day and night, and where my house is positioned kinda funnels the noise towards my neighbours! If I could just move away from them and keep the ducks I would!

I love love love East Indies. If they were quiet would you be able to keep them? The dogs in my area are a lot louder than my ducks.

Well that's what I think, I'd say they were no louder than a dog! but i would take a dog in of a night especially if it was barking. I think the neighbours are just things I can't mention without breaking BYC rules ;)

I'm not entirely sure, the tenancy agreement says no farm animals, but I consider them a pet rather than livestock, and I am allowed to keep a caged bird :idunno

Hopefully my daughter's school will be taking them for me, and once I have a date for that to grease the wheel I may ask permission to have the boys instead - if they don't quack and that was the problem I don't see what they can really complain about.

Hi! Just wondering what I do about feed when the ducklings (hopefully) come along. I have about a week left to go from what I can work out, but my car is off the road at the moment so if I need to get anything in specially the sooner I can arrange that the better.
I know the adult food doesn't have enough protein for the babies, and likewise anything suitable for the ducklings would be too high in protein for the grown-ups. So do I separate them all to eat, but what about mum(s)? or do I supplement one group or the other with extra protein/oats, veggies or the like? Also, is the amount of niacin I would need to add for the ducklings a safe dosage for the adults as well? I know they can have it and will be beneficial to them too but it's more just making sure no-one is going to overdose.
Thanks

can you get chick starter or duckling starter? or an all flock? if you go with chick you'll need to supplement extra niacin all of your ducks can eat starter with no problems put 1 tab of brewers yeast or nutritional yeast over each cup of feed you offer if using plain niacin then crush up a 125 mg into a gallon of water mix real well offer daily till 10 weeks old.

Our Cayuga has a nest with 15 eggs (laid one this morning after starting sitting on the nest yesterday). Does anyone have a suggestion for a good incubator?
