My goose is super broody right now. She had her own eggs (unfertilized) and snatched some unfertilized duck eggs. She's been sitting for probably close to a week. I've been taking her eggs from her one at a time each day to try to make it a transition. She wouldn't leave her nest, hardly eats (only hard white wheat) and drinks. I tried offering her lettuce (which she loves) and she decided to add it to the nest instead of eating it. Today was warmer (still winter here) and I brought her outside. To my surprise she didn't rush right back to the nest. I thought, maybe she'll be fine when she gets back in. I took the last egg and pulled apart the nest. When she did go back down she was distraught badly. She was looking for them and started shaking. She pulled some hay together and laid on it, no eggs. Still shaking and puffed up a lot. Has anyone's goose started shaking like this upon realizing their eggs and nest were gone? Please destroy the nest and break her broodiness. If she makes another, destroy that one too. Remove bedding, block her off from her nesting ground. She shouldn’t waste any more time and energy on goslings that will never be.
