Broody hatch-a-long!!! With Pippin!

Pics
Chicks are around 2 weeks and 5 days old.
They're getting a bit too big to fit under Pippin!
Pippin is still doing a great job. She's very alert and protective over them, but she still lets me play with them as long as they are in her sight!

The rest of the flock has also been very good with Pippin and her chicks. I have a 16wk old Pullet who helps Pippin care for her chicks, she even sleeps with Pippin in the nest box at night! My roosters have been keeping an eye out for danger (mostly pigeons but... Still!) And giving alarm calls when birds fly over. Pippin's sister, Fries, has been very glad to have Pippin back outside. She is like a second Momma to the chicks; feeding them and protecting them. The chicks sometimes get confused (since Pippin and her sister are both white) and follow Fries around!

Our solo chick, Juno, now a month old, has been officially weaned! F5D11C7E-64EF-4622-8E64-230D08024739.jpeg
All day yesterday her mama ignored her. Mainly Juno just did chicken stuff and didn’t seem too upset. The flock is a kind flock, no bullies, they all seem to accept the tiny member who looks very small all alone. (I think it’s a female and wonder if a male, would the flock be harsher? We’ll find out the sex in about 3 weeks for sure.)
At roost time last night, mama went in the main coop and Juno did not follow. Instead she went back to the small coop where she grew up, now empty. But she went right in. Her Auntie, Margarita was following me as I locked up so I picked her up and put her in with Juno. They just both settled in quietly and that was that. I was glad they each had a buddy to spend the night with.
This morning, when I let everyone out, Juno found her mom and tried repeatedly to squeeze under her, but mom side stepped her and ran over to the rooster and squatted. She has other priorities obviously.....
pic shows Juno this morning, kind of lonely, but not acting upset....
