My beautiful broody hen is now done with her 2 5 week old chicks (she was broody and we bought 2 chicks and she took to them right away). So, now the two are on their own and if they get close to the other hens they get pecked at so they stay in the back of the chicken area by themselves. Is this something they will work out on their own? We have 6 hens that are about a year old and now these 2 little 5 week olds. Before mama was over them they were fine with the hens, no big deal. Things certainly have changed and I am just not sure what to do!!

Thanks!

Mine were weaned at the same age and they held their own with the flock better than the momma hen. Reintegration was really tough for her. Pecking can just be the way the older chickens let the chicks know they are above them. (as long as their is no blood) The chicks will adjust quickly and steer clear of the adults.
