Here's a pic. I did buy 3 pullet EE babies today at swap. So thoses are in there too. They are for my oldest who's favorite EE was killed by a dog.

Still more chickies hatching. I'll post pics when I get them.

Well- down to 23. Had to cull one cuz the intestines were coming out.

I had my FIL do it. He had to do that stuff when he was a kid. So he can handle it. Being my first hatch, I didn't have the heart yet. I will eventually.

We have 2 little chicks. The mommies finally let us see them today. They have both gotten off of the 3rd egg. Oh well to that one. One of the mommies even took her chick outside today. This particular hen is worrying me. She's really pale and seems extra tired. More so than the other hen. She isn't caring as well for her chick as the other hen. Luckily both chicks are getting cared for. I fed the hens some scrambled eggs (which I never thought I'd do). The weak hen ate very little and seemed sort of uninterested. The stronger hen went to town on it and made sure the chicks ate too. Is it normal for a mommy hen to be so exhausted? She had been broody for a good month before we ever put eggs under her. I'll post pics of the babies tomorrow.

well I have a second hen now broody, another Buff Orp/white leghorn cross. I am slowly running out of egg layers.
But, I'm going to let her stay that way. I'll put more eggs under this one, then the last girl.

mychickensrock, how is your hen today? Could she have mites? The reason I ask is because I had read a post on here a while back that a broody hen died because of mites since she was already weakened from being broody. I hope she is ok.

I was wondering too if maybe some electolytes in her water. If she went broody 1 mo before she had eggs to hatch, she may just be malnourished. I'm only guessing.
