Broody?

I have a silkie hen who I am not sure if is broody.She sits under the the stairs all day and was under the stairs at night.She pecks and squeaks anyone that touches her.Onther one. Of my hens is sitting on a dozen eggs should I split the eggs between the silkie and the hen That is already sitting on them?

Possibly. It sounds like the silkie hen is trying to go broody, but sometimes they’ll stay on it for a day or two then leave, but if she has been on for five days or so, she is most likely broody. Does the silkie have eggs under her already?

Yah I would give some of the other hens egg to her then, because the chicken won’t get off even if the egg isn’t hatching sometimes. I had a chicken once who stayed on her nest 32 days. I had to take her out and cage her up, because she was getting skinny.
