Broody

This may be dumb but is there any way of un-brooding a hen ?

I have only 8 hens but one of them went broody on a couple of golf balls. I removed the gold balls but she just won't give up. She's sitting on nothing but hay. The problem is that she's been sitting on nothing but hay for well over a month now and I'd love to get her active again.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Not dumb at all. The trick is, put her into a wire cage with absolutely no bedding--only food and water for a few days. Put the cage up so she is elevated on a box or something. It often works.

If she's very stubborn and still goes back to the nest box, I would just let her get over it, but everytime I saw her in the nest box, I would put her outside.

Don't dip her in water. Some people do that and I just think it's cruel.
