Bubbles the Silver Dorking - From on deaths door to hatching her own brood *Pic heavy*

Thank you Deacons.

Also some more sad news regarding the chicks - I'm now down to five

my only bantam Rock remaining had managed to squeeze out through a small gap in the brooder box and was exposed in the coop by himself and couldn't find his way back inside. He was pecked and attacked so badly by my other hens there was no hope for him so I had my husband put him out of his misery.
I've since blocked up the gap so that won't happen again.
So far this has been my worst hatch out of the three I've done.

Thanks scratchnpeck.

We are in the middle of a heat wave here in Queensland too
somad.gif
it's 37 Celsius or 98 Fahrenheit at the moment

Well they all made it through the first day of the heat wave. Today isn't supposed to be as bad, but it's still hot hot hot.

I'll try and get some more pics of the little ones in the afternoon. I was thinking of tying some coloured thread around each of the Favs legs to tell them apart. Does anyone know if that would be ok or not?

In my last couple of hatches, the girls always feathered in faster. My last hatches; one batch had RIRs, Orps and Barred Rocks, the other had bantam Rocks. If this is the case, then one of my BT Araucanas is a pullet (the black one). It's already got wing feathers and it's not yet a week old.

I'm thinking of keeping a Fav roo if I get one, so long as I can convince my husband he's a "loud hen"

Here are some updated pics of the babies. I'm pretty sure 2 of the Favs are boys as they are feathering in slower and already have noticeably thicker legs.

And the hatching adventure continues! I had some Marans eggs posted to me from the lovely @satay and will put them under my broody Speckled Sussex on the weekend

I want to time this hatch so I'll be home when they start pipping and hatching so I can be there to assist if any need help. I think if I were home when Bubbles eggs started to hatch I may have got a better outcome, however life (and work!) gets in the way and it's not always feasible.

The chicks are 4 weeks old today and I took them to a friend to get vaccinated for Coryza and Fowl Pox.
I'm 90% certain I have 2 Cuckoo Faverolles roos, 1 Black Faverolles pullet and 2 Araucana pullets.
While I was at my friends, I swapped one of the roos for a Columbian NN frozzle pullet and a Silver Pencileled Rock pullet and roo

So I went there with 5 and left with 7. I'm very bad with chicken maths
