Observation/admiration of this breed.....I have noticed that my little buckeye chicks are really shiney! They are almost luminescent. The are also sweet, and a bit on the noisy side....or maybe I just have a nightwatch bird. I'm thinking on naming one Bugler for waking us all up at 2:30 am .... just in time to deliver my daughter's next dose of medicine.

My little buckeye chicks are all doing great. It is amazing to see how they all develop differently. Most of the chicks are getting their back feathers to varying degrees. I have a few who only have their wing feathers, and still are covered in the down on the rest of their bodies. They are about 2 1/2 weeks old and are so cute. They are curious and some let me hold and pet them, some are just too busy exploring to bother with me.

Have a great Memorial Day Weekend, everyone, and a big "Thank You" to all of the military personnel and veterans who have sacrificed for our freedom.

I got my shipped eggs in, and the first batch hatched today!!! got 6 eggs shipped in, and this morning I woke up to 6 little chicks in the incubator! Out of 3 batches of eggs, I think there are 19 fertile out of 20 or 21 eggs.

My bunch of buckeyes are 3 weeks old now. Some are really featherd already ...others are trying to catch up...they are a little talky, but just as friendly too! Seem to always be watching, more than some breeds do.

I'm happy with them so far...can't wait for the full maroon color after the first molt.
