I just wanted to know if you were a submariner like myself.

In Navy slang a "bubblehead" is a submariner and a "skimmer puke" or "target" is a surface sailor.

Here is a pic of me while I was stationed on the USS Sunfish. I'm the one on the left.

Yep there were several ships with the Chicago name, the current one is a sub.

If you're going to join the Navy you might as well be on submarines, and always remember "the best marine is a submarine".

LOL, my first thought was that the USS Chicago looks like it would have been an interesting project to put together -- third generation (now ex, alas) Boilermaker here, and my grandfather worked the shipyards in WWII. I still miss the welding but welding and pregnancy didn't mix

.

I may have to quit reading this list for a while. It may be hazardous to my health. I found the list, I got replacement Buckeyes. I kept reading this list, I got more Buckeyes. My husband put his foot down about more birds, but I read this list and started thinking about bantam Buckeyes.....y'all are going to get me killed

.

The last batch went in the incubator on the 14th, which means they should be hatching this week. I candled them last week -- it looked like 10 out of the 15 had residents

. Time to go hunt up the camera and figure out how to post pics!

Being an Army guy...that is darn funny

My buckeye chicks are enjoying their new freedom in the run. They're never all out at the same time, and I believe there a couple that have never been out. They do enjoy scratching for grains, and the dust baths. I did have to add yet another vent window in the coop...living and learning..but all are doing well.

Looking forward to the "new recruits" shipping in a month or so...

My DW has caught the poultry fever; we went to an auction last night just to "observe" as we are going to take some extra cockerels there to make more room....anyway, we came home with a pair of crele OEGB
he.gif
at least they look nice. The hen already had an egg for us this morning...now I have to build a chicken tractor...

It rained here last night; when I let the chicks out this morning their feet experienced a new wet feeling...I laughed so hard watching them bounce and hop around! This definitely is better than T.V.

Aren't they hilarious! We used to watch ours out the bedroom window and we called it the "chicken channel." We still don't have TV service and enjoy watching the bird antics.
