What do you mean? they may be RIR?

Here is a hatchery selling some buckeyes without peacombs.

Here is a person with buckeyes without peacombs.

The photo on the Crain's site is of a pea comb, but a very large pea comb. As for Cackle, they are also pea combs, but a bit large. If you want just layers, then a hatchery is alright. If you want ALBC quality Buckeyes, those the ALBC and others brought back to the Standard, then acquire your Buckeyes from a proven breeder. Preferable a member of the http://www.americanbuckeyepoultryclub.com/aboutus.php or someone who has proven their Buckeye in a showroom.

Most of the hatcheries acquired their stock from Ideal Poultry, who acquired theirs from a breeder in NE Oklahoma. If you want show quality, buy from a member of http://www.americanbuckeyepoultryclub.com/aboutus.php or someone who has proven show wins. Buckeyedave at http://www.buckeyechickens.com has produced a lot of winners. Best Buckeye at the 2010 APA National was a cockerel from his line. I have only lost to Dave's line of birds.....though I have his line.

The ALBC really helped them but they are not the only very good line of buckeyes Urch and Rhodes have bred their bids for 50+ years and have very nice birds! I also think Dave is a good person to get buckeyes from
good luck

The ALBC took Urch, Rhodes, Brown and others to rebuild the Buckeye. Am told that these older breeders were very helpful.

Is there much visual difference between the different strains?
