Took down their pen and helped them into the coop tonight. Our more dominant roo was making noise and doing rounds in the pen to make sure everyone was in place. They had been mingling all week. 11 weeks? Lol

We finally found Buff Brahmas at our local TSC(Hoover's) and got four "premium pullets" (yes yes there's a reason it's in quotes lol)

We brought them home March 2nd (with an Easter Egger)

They are housed with four rowdy olive eggers who are a week older lol I swear they think they are song birds, our other chicks never tried to fly as much as these four

Anyway, just sharing photos and tracking journey of their growth!
I can see you’re in love since you sent so many photographs. I enjoyed seeing those baby chicks. I found that the Easter Eggers are very quiet compared to other breeds, especially the Brahmas as I’ve had both. The Brahmas are large and take longer to develop I found and started laying later than the smaller breeds such as Easter Eggers. But the Brahmas lay a beautiful brown egg and my Easter Egger laid a pale green egg both of which I really loved. The Easter egg laid until she was about eight years old. And while she was rather skittish; never as people friendly as the Buff Orpingtons that I had, she was a favorite - loyal, hard-working, and not a troublemaker.
enjoy your flock.

They are going to be GORGEOUS! The red feathers coming in! My Fern turned out to just me a giant lady. She's quite a lot larger than her sister, Myrtle. I think Fern is how Buff Brahma hens are supposed to be. I have read that certain hatchery Brahmas tend to be smaller than normal. Fern is much larger than my easter egger rooster too hahaha.

Yay! I love our big Brahmas, so big! And yes, since getting hatchery and heirloom Brahmas we've already noticed a difference in feathers and size.

Interesting! Where did you get the heirloom Brahmas? I am unfamiliar.
As my understanding of the heirloom or maybe heritage? I don't know which one, but a truer breed is my understanding. But a local lady breeds them and hers are so much bigger and meatier. (At least by looks) Their feet are heavily feathered whereas our hatchery stock aren't as feathered.

Okay. So essentially from a reputable breeder. Thank you! Mine are from Mt. Healthy Hatcheries. They have heavily feathered feet. I can't see their legs and toes, but the size is off.
