I feel like Hatchery Orps should be considered like an entirly different breed. Because they are NOTHING like Orpingtons, and have strayed so far away from the standard. But I don’t think they should stop breeding them, because there are people like @TheDawg who genuinely like them.
But if they did that with Orps they’d have to do it with other breeds too, Barred Plymouth Rocks are another example, they have gone so far from standard. But people do like the look of them, like I personally like the hatchery ones better than heritage Plymouth rocks, but they aren’t “Plymouth Rocks” anymore. They are “Hatchery Plymouth Rocks.”
They are like a whole different breed.
Just me thinking out loud. I know probably not realistic AT ALL.
I agree to an extent, but judging by all the hatcheries still selling 'Ameriuaucaunas' it would be a long road to change things if they ever changed.
