Buff Silkie Thread!

So is there a definition for the silkie's version of buff? Looking in the most current SOP, on page 35, Buff does not apply to Silkies. I thought that was interesting!

Page 35 of the most current SOP.

Buff
Surface throughout-- an even shad of rich golden buff (definition of buff page 6
Male -- Head, neck, hackle, back, wingbows and saddle showing greater luster.
Female-- Hackle, some luster
Applies to: Cochin, cornish, leghorn, minorca, orpington, plymoth rock, wyandotte, ameraucanas.

See, they don't list silkie.

Packed up some buff eggs for the ASBC western national this weekend. Will ship them out tomorrow.

Also put up another auction on ebay, ends Friday.

Moved more buffs today, due Wednesday. Last hatch was 17/18. Fertility has been 100% out of the buff pen. Every egg has developed.

I keep the males trimmed and I think that helps alot. Had a couple girls try to go broody. Those are up in wire pens right now.

I do not have the current APA SOP. Look at the breed pages and see what varieties and page numbers it lists there. Might want to contact the APA to let them know that silkies were left out of the buff list.
