Bug infested possibly anemic rooster-help!

I’m not sure how old he was, but he was one of the few who wasn’t showing signs of illness when my flock came down with some sort of respiratory problem. I’ve never had such terrible luck with animals until I got chickens. Seems like it’s just been one thing after another. Thank you all for the condolences. I’ll have to try getting the rest of the birds while they’re roosting, it will still be a challenge to catch them though, my other roosters wake up and want to immediately get busy with the girls if you wake them at night haha, causes a ruckus

How many roosters do you have in the flock and how many females?
Too many males will stress the flock and stress can lead to a number of health problems. There are some very serious illnesses like Marek's that can lie dormant for months or years until triggered by stress and from my experience, too many cockerels competing with each other and harassing the girls is one of the key triggers. Marek's can manifest in many ways, including respiratory illness, so you might want to rethink your flock management if you have more than one rooster in the coop, particularly if you don't have 20+ hens.
Culling surplus cockerels is one of most difficult but most important parts of flock management.

I’ve got about 30 hens and now just two roosters. Also, I checked some of the birds (the ones I can catch, some of which were “his”) and no one else seems to have any lice or nits.:woot
