Bugs & Problems With The New Platform

The only thing I haven't tried that you just mentioned was to change the e-mail address. I did unclick the boxes for notifications and I cleared my cache two days ago. I don't cruise the internet that much, just my chicken and goose sites.

I will change my e-mail adress and see if that changes anything. And no, I haven't gotten any notifications still.

You may also want to check your hotmail account's blocked senders list to see if any of the BYC email addresses are being blocked.

BYC is not on my blocked senders list. In fact, I just removed everything on there but four things. I even made sure they were on my list of safe senders.

The problem is my e-mail address. I changed it to my regular home account and got notifications. I changed it back and got nothing. Then I changed it back again and got notifications.

So, it is something to do with my hotmail account . Other people have hotmail and are getting their e-mails, so there seems to be a system error, and no I don't want to leave the BYC stuff on my other e-mail account.

ETA: It likes my husbands hotmail account, but not mine.

I just added an alias e-mail account to my hotmail. I will see if it works.

If you tried another email & it worked then I feel confident in saying the problem is not on the BYC side. Could simply be a Hotmail issue; wouldn't surprise me anyway. Hotmail runs on hundreds of servers & there could be a problem on 1 or 2 (or 30) of them that effect some users, but not others. Hotmail made have made some changes or installed some updates last week too that are having an effect on your account. Again, wouldn't surprise me. Understand not wanting to use a work email for this kind of thing. I setup a Gmail account just for chicken & Craigslist stuff. I also ended shutting off all of my email notifications; too many to keep up with & other emails that I needed kept getting lost in the mix.
Just out of curiosity, if you forward a BYC email from your other account to your hotmail account does it go thru? If not then BYC emails might be getting caught up in a spam filter somewhere along the way.

BYC admins: if you're reading this, have you received any 'blacklist' notifications from any email services lately? Like in the past week? If someone reported BYC as a 'spammer' then your filter ratings may have been bumped up enough to start seeing blocked emails. Not saying this is the problem, but it's another troubleshooting step to weed out.

Since I shut off all my notifications (and deleted them all so I'm not 100% sure) I think I read somewhere where the BYC emails are coming from a different email address than before. May want to verify you have the right email address for BYC in your safe senders list. Would be a good idea to add this address to the safe mailing lists as well just to be covered.

I set up an alias hotmail name. It still comes to my original hotmail account.

I am not getting subscriptions though it appears.......

ETA: I take that back, just got one. It appears all is finally right with the world.

So if you have a hotmail account and are not getting your e-mails, try what I did.

Go to the far top right of your hotmail screen and click the Options tab. This will drop down to another tab then click more options.

Under the title Managing Your Account is a link to click for Account details (password, aliases, time zone).

Then click Your e-mail addresses. You can add an alias e-mail address here for your BYC messages. It will come right into your regular hotmail account that you already sign into, no need to remember new passwords.

Glad you got it to work. Hopefully it will stay that way.

I am new here, but will say this site is very slow loading on my machine. Running Firefox 3.6 on a non-Intel Mac (OS 10.5.8). 6 Meg DSL connection.

The delay in loading every page seems to be related to the ads and other "add-on" content.
It takes forever to load content from "delivery.huddler.com", "google analytics" and others. Even after a page is fully loaded, scrolling is sluggish. The "Featured Sponsors" images take over a minute to load. When navigating from one page to the next, it starts all over again, which seems redundant. I am not running any ad or popup blockers.

Undoubtedly, some of this is due to my older machine although I participate in several other forums without issue. I know that advertising content is necessary, but when it and other bells and whistles affect the site functionality, it may be excessive. "Transferring data from delivery.huddler.com" for over six minutes as I type this.
