Bugs & Problems With The New Platform

Change your mouse settings. Two other options - copy your post to clipboard before you navigate away (that way you can paste it back in if lost), do your editing in another application (safe from any web/device deviance) and copy and paste into post.

I always choose option three when making long posts.

You will definitely lose what you have typed in a reply box if you navigate away before submitting. If you submit, then use the back button, then return to what you just submitted and it is not there, it should appear if you refresh the page. I've never lost what I'd typed when I submitted before I navigated away.

Thank you for the comments and help, Flockwatcher, KathyinMO, and Ivan3!

This problem that I have been experiencing is an unplanned event brought on by my mouse buttons (I suppose I need to tell my DH to buy me a cheap mouse rather than use his hand-me-down mouse that is fancy). I thus don't have anything copied and am still composing the post, doing research simultaneously out in googleland to give people links to helpful sites.

I will just carry on then! Thanks again for responding. I was rather hoping that Nifty could do something about this, as the last platform allowed me to hit the back button and it was still there.

Another workaround (actually pretty good way to work) is to open two/three instances of your browser to do a couple of things at once (just don't close out the one you're editing post in)...

That is just too complicated to me. I don't even know how to do that! I can open more than one tab, and that is about the extent of my computer skills.

Problem...
With Firefox I can not see youtubes on BYC
With Chrome I can see them.

With Chrome: when I hover over a user name, I can not get the drop down. I have to click ON the user name and it goes to their profile.
With Firefox: this feature works.

Are you using Windows 7? If you are, then what I do is open a new tab, and then click and drag that tab. On my computer (running W7) the tab becomes a new window that way. I use IE9 personally, but also use Firefox every now and then. The dragging of tabs works on both for me.

Yes, I have Windows 7. I am not so computer savvy. Maybe I will go to IE9, instead of using Chrome and Firefox. It is just crazy that some of the BYC features work only on some of the browsers. I have a brand new computer and all the latest updates, yet still.....
