Building a hatcher (NEW PICS Pg. 3)

It looks great, only one sugestion however.
the little shelf with the holes behind the fan will severely restrict the air flow in the bator.
make the holes a lot bigger or cut the little shelf right out so the fan can pull as much air as possible thru.

BTW Its great to see that you got the wiring sorted out.

Well its done. I cut the door today, then used the jigsaw to cut the window out. I then glued a piece of plexiglass over it with silicone caulking. I installed the hinges, and the window locks to keep the door closed. I also installed weather stripping along the back panel, and along the inside of the door stop to prevent the heat and humidity from escaping. I have it running now to see if I can get the temps up. Looks like its working so far. Once I get the temps up, I'll add the humidity pan to it to check humidity.

I have a question...Is that particle board you used? If so please let me know how it works for holding temp. Did you paint the inside? I have tons of particle board around here.

No, I still need to add the opening in the back panel for ventilation, but I need to go back to Home Depot for a large bit. I dont have one large enough.

Yes its particle board. I painted the inside, and added three very thick coats of polyurethane to the inside to help hold moisture and prevent warping.

I have a 60w light bulb in there now, with the 40w LG heating element. So far the temp is up to 90 degrees, but it seems to be struggling to get any higher. I'll observe it over the next few hours. I may need to move to a brighter bulb.

I am interested to see how much temp variation you have from top to bottom with the thermostat being in the egg area. I am interested to see how that works out.

Let us know if you get a chance
