My grandma has a pit.
Her name is Pickles. Pickles is very, VERY spoiled. She gets one "chicky-stick" every time she sits and begs. She barks at you to demand a chicky-stick. She also gets those peanut butter filled bones and other unhealthy processed treats. 😆
My grandma does NOT use treats to reward Pickles, but rather gives her one when she tells my grandma that she wants one. When I go to help prepare holiday meals with my grandma, she makes me tear apart a rotisserie chicken for her dog. THIS is why she's only like 2 feet tall, shaped like a bread loaf, and weighs 80 pounds😭when the poor dog sits down, her little paws tremble under her weight😭😭

Dogs need their treats restricted just like chickens do. I will give treats, chews and scraps every now and then but not every day (not even every week, maybe a few times a month at most) and only a little bit. Of course the dog is going to ask for treats a lot because she can, same way kids will ask for candy because they can. Treats should be a pleasant surprise, not something they beg for or get every day and preferably they should do a small task for treats (even if it's just sitting). Too many treats makes for a sick miserable dog just like it makes for a sick miserable human

Exactly!! Well said.

Brew is about 80lbs too but he’s pretty big. And male. Pickles must be smaller. Brew does still need to lose some though.
Yes Pickles is supposed to be small! Her legs are super short if that says something lol..😂
If she was healthy, I'd guess that she would weigh about 55 pounds or so. Perhaps 60.
