Wow, he is definitely up there in age. Have you had tests done to check his kidney and liver function? Kidney and liver failure and other diseases can cause excessive drinking and urination. This is Jack. He is a three-legged, 10 or 12-year-old boxer who is currently the most difficult of my fur babies. He is currently sleeping right now, but when he is awake, he is the neediest thing. He wants excessive amounts of water but drives me crazy with the sounds he makes while drinking and I swear he is half camel with as much as he urinates on such small amounts of water. I can't give him free access because he won't stop drinking if there is water available. He even hits up the chicken's water when he is outside.
He is a pretty good travel buddy, other than recently when he has started getting antsy while I'm on the interstate. I would say it was because of the noise and speed, but it is only on the way home. I think I may have to start walking him midway through my shift to see if that will tire him out a bit. The picture of him with his head under the car was taken at the drive-in theater, so no danger.
Boxers can be funny like that. My Boxer refused to drink any water that was not super fresh and clean. He would bark and whine if another dog drank the water.Yep, all bloodwork normal. No other abnormal symptoms. Just a weird quirk of his.
Trixie does the barking when someone else is drinking. She has no patience.Boxers can be funny like that. My Boxer refused to drink any water that was not super fresh and clean. He would bark and whine if another dog drank the water.
