Thanks! So dosage for Waterfowl is higher than for chickens correct? It's 100 mg/kg once a day I think, which when using the standard injectable available at feed stores is 0.15 ml per pound.
Actually, that is the dose for chickens and other poultry too. Not sure where the other dose people recommend came from. Thanks! So dosage for Waterfowl is higher than for chickens correct?
LOL I don't know. Most all the info I have (it's probably outdated) for chickens is 1/4-1/2ml daily for 3-5 days.Actually, that is the dose for chickens and other poultry too. Not sure where the other dose people recommend came from.maybe someone extrapolated the chicken dose from the cattle dose.

Did you know that poultrydvm was not written by a vet? Don't get me wrong, it's a great resource, but has lots of misinformation in it.Poultry DVM states 1/2ml daily for 3-5 days for wound infections. Orally 3cc for Cholera and 50,000iu/kg for Waterfowl![]()
I figured it was not written by a vet! Some of the wording on there reads a lot like some posts I have seen on hereDid you know that poultrydvm was not written by a vet? Don't get me wrong, it's a great resource, but has lots of misinformation in it.![]()
I just re-read that. Does it really say that? If it does say that, I just gotta say that my vet told me years ago that injectable penicillin is one of the injectable that shouldn't be given orally because it's not absorbed well if given orally.. Orally 3cc for Cholera and 50,000iu/kg for Waterfowl![]()
Maybe I read it wrong!? I wondered about giving that much orally as well. It's interesting they don't even have Cholera or Pasteurellosis listed in the diseases section.I just re-read that. One of us should start a treat about the misinformation on poultrydvm and duckdvm.Maybe I read it wrong!? I wondered about giving that much orally as well. It's interesting they don't even have Cholera or Pasteurellosis listed in the diseases section.
