I learned early on to monitor feet for bumblefoot. I do an exam at least twice a month, but it's more often.

This week one of my Easter Eggers had bumbles on both feet.

After a warm soak I popped the hard kernel out of the biggest one. Greatful it was so easy and not all gooey puss, I learned forward to get a good look at the kernel.

She ate it. 😳🫨😭 She ATE IT!😵‍💫😨 So...she's going to be alright....right?

I cringed, screeched and my husband wretched...it was contagious. I wretched too. It was beyond horrifying,. but it happened. If it were going straight to a pit if acid, I wouldn't be concerned, but it is going in her crop to sit, then ground up by her craw before the GI tract starts dumping digestive juices on it.

Any thoughts? Should I be concerned?

I'm sure she will be fine.

It's like when a kid who doesn't know any better picks a scab and eats it. Or when a big dog finds his little brother's poop in the yard and feels the need to clean it up. Or a mother deer gives birth in the woods and she licks the baby clean and eats up the afterbirth. I truly cannot think of a whole lot yuckier than that, but clearly that's nature and that's just what animals do.
