Turkeys don't usually lay until spring. But, I once bought a BBW hen in either late October or early November....was gonna butcher her for Thanksgiving (which I have zero problems accomplishing on normal occasions!). And anyway, the stupid bird started laying eggs after I'd had her a week or so!! It was insane. I ended up keeping her and letting her breed with my BR flock the next spring, but never got any poults from her. Her death was delayed by a year, but she eventually ended up on the dinner table as I intended. She was a good 45 lbs live weight.
