BUTCHERED QUAIL....PICS

Yes Kim...look for the biggest birds! Also are you talking about your Texas A&Ms having brown spots in their feathers? This is normal. Not sure what exactly it is from though.
Anyone who wants quail.....check back next week and all through summer. I always have eggs!!

You eat those quail of your's yet? My hubby and I are awaiting your reviews of the recipe!

I'll have to get a picture of them some time soon. Some of them have fairly large patches of brown lacing. One had a patch that went from the back of it's head to half way down it's back. The rest of it was white, with the exception of about 1/3 of it's tail.

Like I said though, my selection will be based on weight.

** What is the best way to select for larger birds? By weighing them? Or just eye-balling it?

I eye ball and hold. I normally like to wait until the birds are around or older than sexual maturity. I dont have the time really to weigh every bird...so I just go on instinct.
Didnt eat them yet...tomorrow is the day!

Getting ready to eat ours tonight. I'm using the recipe stated above. I think I will make buttermilk buscits also. I can't wait.
