Button Quail chicks keep dying?!?

I have covered all sides of the cage and still left the top open, temp is now 91. I never had a heater on the adults before they had the babies. The heat is on at my house and it had been a steady 72 which they didn’t seem to mind. Man do they eat and drink a lot! I fill their water multiple times a day as well as I just had to fill their food! I put the crumbles and cracked corn into the food processor and basically turn it to dust. They seem to like it. None of the babies that died had an issue with eating or drinking. They did so immediately. It just adds to the mystery I guess :barnie

Thanks for the pics!! :)

I would definitely cover the sides of the cage. Drafts will pour in and I cant stress enough how quail cannot survive drafts. Anything will work on the sides...towels, and old quilt, etc...

Crush the food up really well and if you can avoid dropping the temp below 90 for another week, I think the babies will be ok. :)

I hope they make it too:hugs. We're all human we make mistakes but learn from them. We had to cull 2 of my babies ( i say baby but they were both crowing and one i called she til the end) because we chose to buy straight run. Lessons learned the hard way are the ones that stick with you. <3 you are better now for it.

Thank you so much for all of your help!

They are just so stinking cute. I thought it would be different to have Button Quails (I have chickens too) and the client who gave them to me said they were so easy to take care of.
