Button Quail chicks keep dying?!?

Perfectly normal for them to lay outside the nest, buttons aren't normally very good mothers lol. If they're pecking at the eggs they may need more protein in their diet or they could have just been curious, giving them some mealworms or scrambled egg wouldn't hurt though!

Definitely try and prevent them from pecking through eggs. Once they get the taste and start egg eating, it's a very hard habit to break, and it starts from playing with eggs until they break open.
