Buyer Beware!!!...Chicken Coops NW

Thank you all so much for your responses! I'm sorry that a lot of us are in the same boat. I feel so happy to have so much "evidence" to send to my credit card company with my dispute. I printed out some of your comments from here and also Yelp reviews in addition to my photos and email correspondence with these crooks. I'm feeling confident that I will get a refund after all and it's your advice and encouragement that has saved the day! :clap:thumbsup:yesss:

We got taken for $600. Didn't get the shipment in time, had to build our own temp coop, kept the birds in the garage. Cost us a lot of time too! Now the roof and sides are all falling apart. Most of the workmanship is apart. The roof molded this winter and leaked on our chickens in very cold temps. It really is a shame. We thought we were spending a little extra and buying an American made product from a nice little company, but they have not replied and taken care of any of there part of the deal. At this point it is so bad, they owe us a FULL Refund no questions asked. It is ridiculous the Better Business Bureau can't put them out of business. Our chickens are the ones that missed out the most!
So sorry to hear this! Contact your credit card company and take some pictures! You CAN get your money back it is within a year someone said on this post. I'm doing that now. God bless.

To all of you wonderful more experienced backyarders, what is a good ratio of chickens to coop and run size? I have a 8 x 8 ft. coop with an 8 x 24 ft run. How many chickens do you recommend in that size?
A MINIMUM of 4 sq ft per chicken in the coop and 10 sq ft in the run per chicken.. minus the food, water, nest boxes .. more is better.. so no more than 12-15 chickens

I'm glad all of you are posting about this. I found one of their listings on my local CL page and thought they looked really nice, but came here searching for reviews. I've never had chickens, just toying with the idea currently, so I thought I'd research first. So few negative reviews are out there, probably because they are censoring everything!

If I had it to do over, I'd probably spring for a set of plans (I've seen some that are free) and build it myself.

Glad it helps. I needed to do something with this energy... Good thing you are researching. I put a negative review on their Facebook Page and they removed it and blocked me within hours. Unbelievable!

Dealing with My Urban Farmers was a horrible experience. I'm not out any money, but it took a while and was a learning experiencece. I learned early on in the process of dealing with the Hyatts, to have no verbal contact with them - written only.

Hello! I'm one of the new chicken keepers on the block. I felt compelled to join the conversation because of my recent experience with a producer of chicken coop kits, Chicken Coops NW/My Urban Farmers. We purchased a "Resort" style coop back in February and it was delivered April 5th. Because our chicks weren't old enough for the coop, my husband assembled it April 28 and that's when the problems began.

The coop is darling, but the wood is extremely lightweight and soft. The hardware is something you'd find holding the Barbie Dreamhouse together and when my husband tried to use more substantial hardware, the wood split. Every rung on the ramp came off because each was secured with tiny finishing nails. Our roof is splitting and coming apart also. I recently cleaned the coop for the first time and the triangles that hold the backdoor from caving into the coop completely broke off. I shouldn't have been surprised to find that the wood triangles were just centimeters thick and secured with glue and teeny tiny nails like the majority of the coop.

I've contacted the company on 4 different occasions about all the issues we are having with the coop and at first, the excuse was that parts came loose during shipping and then when I sent photos to back up my complaints, it was improper installation. My husband intentionally installed the bottom back panel of the run "inside out" for ease of installation for the feeder/water I purchased.

The last time I emailed I stated that I wanted a refund and that I wanted them to actually publish my honest review on their website. There are 20ish reviews and all positive for a reason. They won't publish the ones that say they put out crappy coops!!

The reply from my email said that I missed the 30 day window for returns and that they could replace the parts. This is a joke because it would be of no benefit to do so because the whole things is soft and falling apart!

Our coop budget is spent and I'm sad that we are stuck with this coop. We've only had chickens in it for about a month now so I can only imagine what it will be like in a year. Spread the word because ChickenCoopsNW certainly does not want you or anyone to know the truth about their kits!! Don't waste your money too!!
