Buyer grief, what would you do?

I'm sorry. But I don't agree completely. The buyer can be lying but you have to make good on it anyway. You can request they send the frozen eggs back to you but then they can just put them in their freezer too. So it is actually useless to do this. I would offer to send new eggs, Mark the box as to what is in it. Live eggs, do not freeze. Keep warm fragile, do not drop. Anything you can think of, put it on the box, take a picture of it before you send it to cover yourself against further accusations and send it. then if they complain again you are covered and if they file a dispute you have proof you did whatyou could to prevent it from happening agian. also offer then insurance or insure them yourself anyway. Then put them on your block list so they cna't buy again from you.

It is a learning experience and should just be treated that way. There are all kinds of people out there and we have a tendancy to run into the kinds we prefer not to sometimes.

Just do what you have to to cover your assets. You can always leave follow up feedback.

I won't name the buyer until this is resolved.

sorry, I have to agree with this post

when you are the shipper, you do all that you can to CYA.. a plain brown box ??? see what I mean??

attach a neon sign to it if you could

No harm in stating do not freeze.
do not bump, kick or stomp on.
then if it happens, you are off the hook..

The PO does not have a policy to stomp, bump, or kick, plain brown boxes. With the time they have they pretty much treat all packages the same. In most post offices there are cameras watching the sorters, and I highly doubt this takes place as a practice. As far as a &*%#* that would do those things that person would do it anyway as they are &*%#*.

Personally most people request replacement eggs as they want the eggs anyway. Sounds like a scam to me I would check the persons feedback left for sellers and see if they have a pattern of negatives.

BTW I all but stopped selling on EBAY and have moved my business to IOFFER. Ebay sucks!!

You are missing my point .. I am not pointing at the Post Office specifically.. I just suggested what to do to CYA...

and the surveilance camera is not going to pick up whether the package is going to be frozen..

there are many points along the way where there are no cameras..
and I would NOT replace the eggs.. in fact the buyer indicated she did not want them replaced.

edit:
just giving the money back is 100% refund, why add more eggs to it?? you already are out one set of eggs...

The P.O will not do a thing about eggs, insured or not. They will not refund for messed up eggs that are insured, even if they are decimated BY someone at the P.O

It dosnt cover damage to the eggs, but it will insure for lost items, or decimated packages. You're insuring their ability to deliver the item whole and by their time promised. It would not have applied in this given situation since the eggs were intact, but if they froze due to being late for delivery the buyer could have filed claim- since delivery confirmation is part of the insurance. this would be insurance on guaranteed packages.

Its still something that should be required by the seller, it takes a few extra seconds to fill out the form, and costs a couple extra dollars- but it can save a lot of head ache- on more than just this issue.

For ruined packages there is a lot of red tape. There's actually a number for your local post master general- they'll be head quartered at you closes sorting station for your city/region and calling them can some times direct you into a better direction. I've had to do that a couple times. It takes time but it does work. I actually got a nasty employee transferred out of state for her behavior towards me. The PO is allll about red tape

Duh, I didn't think of them putting them in the freezer

I just remember this winter going out and having frozen "cracked" eggs. The buyer said nothing about them being cracked. Did they candle the eggs to prove them frozen? I am sorry, I just don't trust too many people anymore. Not wanting more eggs shipped and threatening with negative feedback just sends up a BIG red flag for me.

This is a good idea, because they are probably in the incubator as someone else stated!!
I hae never shipped eggs, but I sold some for local pick up, well the person called me and said none hatched. I told them that was strange, because I have a 90% hatch rate with these same eggs! They said all the other eggs they had hatched, but mine did not. I told them to bring me the eggs and we will work something out!( they said they still had them) Never heard from them again!!

Some people just want something for free!!

I ordered three $$$$ eggs that shipped over two 8-degree nights.

I have three beautiful BCM chicks.

Could you just stall the buyer with nice but vague e-mails until he/she gets tired and goes away?

Naw, ask your husband about that. The only service time that we "gurantee" is express so shipped priority with insurance, even if it took a week to get there, we (p.o) wouldn't have refunded anything b/c they arrived late and frozen. Time frames on priority, first class, etc. are just guesstimates and not gurantees.

maybe thats what needs to be done then. Require the buyer to purchase express shipping.
