Buzzards

The hen coop is about 4-5 metres away from my door so I'll be able to run out but I've had hens for years and buzzards just fly over way up high in the sky.

My birds will make that low guttural grow when a silhouette of a raptor passes over, even Vultures or Buzzards, not so much the Crows. If a Hawk lights in a tree near by they really crank up and head for the coop.

Further research on my part shows that in some parts of the country anything flying overhead is a "buzzard". Here, you would mean a vulture. Your photo we would call a "hawk". Yea, bad for chickens. Last year I ran off two red tailed hawks. Not before one killed a chick. I also ran off a Shin that took a chick. I'd never even heard of a Shin before I looked up 'very little bad bird'.

Please let us know what you do.
