Beautiful babies, @CapricornFarm!

Anesthesia stuck the crap out of me too. They said I had the worst veins they'd seen in a long time. But the pair was wonderful and sympathetic and got the job done.

When I woke up in PACU I had ZERO left side pain!! And I was in the fetal position on that side. I started chatting away with my PACU nurse and they rolled me back to my room. I had my IV removed quickly, they gave me a banana nut muffin and a cup of coffee. Then I had to pee and walked easily by myself. Then sis and I took a 3-minute stroll around the unit. I can sit on my own.

The staff is calling me their miracle patient. They released me and I'm on my way home now!
That's awesome!

What exactly did they do to 'fix' your bulging/ruptured(?) disc?
She cut out the bulges, debrided the arthritis from my discs everywhere she could reach, and there was some other growth in there that was pressing on the nerve that she removed. I don't know what that was but I will find out. She was unconcerned about it. And she was able to apply the steroid to the nerve.

The surgical wounds I feel and hurt but they are nothing compared to the nerve pain. I have a higher pain tolerance than most so I was just in a positively jovial mood when I woke up. When back in my room I was moving around very well, ate, drank and peed with no issues at all. Perfectly normal for all intents and purposes.

Jody's eggs died. I am going to be at the door at TS this morning as soon as they open to beg them to sell me 3 chicks. Charge me for 6 chicks at 50% discount. Who's going to know we have difficulty counting to 6? They can't possibly try to keep inventory on living creatures so no one will know.
C and my niece, R, went for me. They talked them into selling just 3. My niece is very persuasive! They are GLWs and look to be about 4-5 days old.

They put them in the ward with Jody, showed each of them the water and food. Jody stayed on her nest and puffed up at them, just like Astrid did when Jody and her clan were first exposed to her. Then the chicks ran out to the ward run and that is where we found them when I got home. I showed C&R how to open the run lid and they herded them back into the ward and we blocked off the door for now.

We just came back from tucking them under her. She didn't do anything but let them stay and peck the crap out of me, but I'll be out before dawn to see what's what. If the graft looks like it took, great. If not, I'll plug the plate back in and leave them locked in with her because they can run under the plate to avoid her if she gets mean. I think she'll accept them either by tomorrow morning or one more morning of exposure to them. She's just got that type of personality.

Interesting.
Curious to find out what other growth was...
..and how long that steroid will last and how you'll feel after it wears off. :fl :fl :fl

Good morning Cafè. Coffee is ready.

The graft didn't take last night. I had insomnia and went out around 1 to check. The chicks were huddled up against the sliding door to the coop. I tucked them back under the brooder plate. I'll have to just leave them to see if she starts to show interest or not. If she still won't take them after 3 days, I'll lock her in the clink and raise them myself.
