BYC Café

Good morning Cafè. Coffee is ready.

I am hoping today is the day the incision pain peaks. I'm ramping up to the prescribed dose of 1 Percocet every 4 hours with as much ice in between as I can manage.

I can still walk normal albeit a bit gingerly. I can still feed my animals, a bit slowly. I had prepared 5 days worth of dog food and I'm really glad I thought to do that. It's making things easier for me.

Beautiful babies, @CapricornFarm!

Anesthesia stuck the crap out of me too. They said I had the worst veins they'd seen in a long time. But the pair was wonderful and sympathetic and got the job done.

When I woke up in PACU I had ZERO left side pain!! And I was in the fetal position on that side. I started chatting away with my PACU nurse and they rolled me back to my room. I had my IV removed quickly, they gave me a banana nut muffin and a cup of coffee. Then I had to pee and walked easily by myself. Then sis and I took a 3-minute stroll around the unit. I can sit on my own.

The staff is calling me their miracle patient. They released me and I'm on my way home now!
How wonderful!
But be careful and don't risk all their hard work by bending or lifting or whatever you are not supposed to do.

Me too, I have not been on a vacation in about 10 years!
My vacation days are probably over for the foreseeable future. My chicken sitter is the neighbor who had the heart attack, and walking from her kitchen to her living room makes her winded. So tending chickens is out. Her husband broke his hip about a month ago, so he can't do it either.

Next door neighbor is The Woman With Too Many Chickens (TWWTMC). Her sons take care of theirs; they will NOT take care of mine. After I helped her mom clean out the coop, no way, no how. If she should offer, my excuse is, "but you're so busy..." because she is that too.

Her mom (3 doors down) uh... how would I explain not asking TWWTMC? Don't want to stir that pot.

The "new couple" are often not home. They travel -- a lot, it seems! -- and unless one of them seems really interested and offers, I'm not going to ask.

So, I'm going to be staying home when hubby goes to Colorado for a friend's wedding. And when he visits his dad in NC.

I'm actually not too upset by this. I don't care to take long car trips. I'll feel badly about missing the wedding. The trips to NC, however, can be trying. Dad and his wife (second wife; is that step-MIL?) sometimes argue (nothing too loud, but stressful to watch). It's usually about money.

Is it one long cut or short arthroscopic ones?
I assume your sister is changing the bandages daily to keep an eye out for infection?

One of her orders was to take frequent short walks as it will help the healing process. My property is small so I usually stroll out to chick or pond gawk.

One long slice to the left side of the spine. Then she stretched the muscles out of the way for the duration of the surgery. So those are super tight right now. And I can't stretch them without bending so tight they'll stay until she tells me otherwise.

The second skin bandage is over a thick gauze pad. None of that comes off until tomorrow afternoon. I still have a bottle of unscented antibacterial soap that I used to wash my tattoo with. That is the way I will wash my back.
DL, just rest, rest, rest...
I slept like the dead again last night and had another long nap this morning. 4 hours. C took the girls out for a short run for me. We are under a heat advisory.

C was a huge help for me last night. I can tell it bothers him to watch me struggle to get off the couch but I have to use these muscles and it's not bad once I'm up. He has been doing lots of little things to make life easier for me. I didn't really need that until yesterday. Last night, sis sent over a second ice pack so I always have one coming and one going.

Today, I'll have C wash and refill the chicken's water for me and dump the doody buckets even though they aren't full. I can't move a full one so he'll dump both buckets every 6 days so neither ever gets heavier than 10#. Moving around in little bits definitely makes things feel better.

Recipe for Granny. One can of Chef Boyardee Italian Sausage ravioli, a bit of ground powdered garlic, a dash of Italian spices. Maybe three tbsp of ground pizza cheese. Heat through, and then sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top. Omg, it tastes great! Fast and easy. Of course you would probably need to triple the recipe. Oops, wrong thread!
@GrannyHatchet

Does the recipe have a name?

What is ground pizza cheese?

Sounds good.
