BYC Café

The turkeys are definitely acclimating to me.

I'm a little embarrassed to admit that for the first time in my life, I saw a wild tom strutting. Two actually. They are such cools beans to watch!
I love watching them all fluffed and fanned out. Last spring I saw the funniest thing - three toms, all strutting their stuff in front of three hens - who were oblivious to the show. They were busy pecking at the grass. Never even glanced at those boys.

Good morning Cafè. Coffee is ready.

Those turkeys are now waiting for me to feed them too!

From yesterday when I ran the dogs, the goose has landed.

We lost a lot of snow today. It was 47° and quite windy, and that turned snow into slop, mud, and puddles. There won't be any snow left except for plowed piles by the end of the week.

The chickens were freaked out by the sounds the wind made. I put up the wind breaks for you, ladies. The sound is Out There. The wind is Out There. You are In Here.

There. Here. You're safe.

Sand! ;) at least will provide some traction until it's warm enough for salt to work.

Went to lock up the coop and found a sparrow in the coop. GRRR!
Never had that happen before, in the shed yeah before I started never leaving the door open. Sparrows and juncos have been foraging in the run lately, that's kinda new too at least in the numbers I've seen the past couple-few weeks. Was just thinking this morning about them getting inside and well now it's happened. GRR! Made a halfarsed effort to catch it with a butterfly net, but that thing was fast and frantic and I was upsetting all the birds. So I just left the pop door open hoping it might go out, not much chance tho. Not sure what I'll do in the morning. <chuckles> wonder what'll happen when the supp lights go on at 4am.
Get a flashlight and go catch it tonight.

It was over 40 yesterday and stayed above freezing all night. Today we get rain because we aren't getting enough water with all that melting ice and snow. More
At least we aren't due to freeze over again until Thursday night.
