Let me make the coffee. Glad that all is good with you. Slight rain and wind from the far outer fringes of the major disturbance known as 'Matthew'.

My trusty old well used generator (acquired as part payment for repair work) I got just after Fran took our power out for 8 days, is working good. I just have to fill up the oil every 4 hours or the auto-shutoff will turn it off. I can't fix the DSL from the 'big' city when most of the area is underwater or without power and or both. I did miss BYC. My cellphone is not internet ready.Mornin' all. I'd start the coffee, but the power is still out. It got pretty windy when the eye got past us; strongest stuff we got out of the whole storm. Knocked out the power about 8-ish. Still a bit gusty, though the rain has stopped. I see Matthew is dumping on folks to the north of us still - hope everyone stays safe and dry. We're waiting for daylight to get out and do damage assessment - not much longer now.
That is a good way of putting it!Let me make the coffee. Glad that all is good with you. Slight rain and wind from the far outer fringes of the major disturbance known as 'Matthew'.
The house is in good shape, it was built back in the 30's out of cement block (even the inside walls are 4 inch cement block) rough-cut one inch hardwood board roof, two by four rough-cut rafters. My birds are quite a bit wet, the coops are built for summer heat and have lots of open window (hardware cloth screened) area. When it rains sideways they get wet inside. Was wondering how much weather y'all were getting out of this thing, Sour.
Well, that's irony for ya. I had just finished making some chicken soup when we lost power last night; it really seemed awfully warm and steamy weather for soup. The temp barely cleared 70 today, and it was pretty blustery; as the sun went down the temps dropped, too. Soup seemed like just the thing tonight . . . . it's always better when it has had a chance to swap flavors around a bit, anyway.
Thinking about you tonight, Scott. Praying y'all are warm, safe, and dry.
The backside was the bad side on this 'Mattew'Coffee is on.
Hope y'all are thru the worst of the storm.
for some of those people normal will be awhile if ever again.Mmmmm, coffee. Thank you, that really hits the spot!![]()
Low 50's this morning. I know that's pretty warm for some folks, but since we've had nights in the 70's, it seems pretty cool to me! Kinda funny to see my horses standing broadside to the sun, though it is marvelous to be seeing the sun. Dry, sunny, breezy weather is just what we need to dry things out, and the cooler temp's make the work of cleanup more tolerable (and the breeze keeps the mosquitoes grounded!!). Some of the area rivers are already cresting, others are expected to peak later this week. Those who have experience with this sort of thing know that the period after the storm can be dangerous, too; tired, frazzled people may not be as careful as they should be when dealing with the aftermath. My thoughts and prayers are with the crews who are out there getting us all back to whatever we consider 'normal.'
Hot coffee is always good to have ready for days like today.Miss Bunny, I'll keep the pot relatively fresh for ya'll today......
prayers continue, that damage is minimal, and clean up is safe.....
Sir Sour, didn't you have a bit of a dry spell going on?lady, we had little impact from Matthew. High winds yesterday and last night along with light rain. No major problem at all. Hope that you are getting everything 'cleaned up'. TK, thanks for the coffee.![]()
