So yeah, the cow wouldn't let me get very close to her side( typical) when I was out feeding her and her delicious companion, but the horses will be here next week, and their brands are much easier to see. We even employed freeze branding on the gruela colored gelding. There are 2 palominos and a paint, as well. We only have the four hirses, and they are my parents' horses really, but I take care of them whenever they travel since we live next door.

Watching the weather channel, Looks like@Bunnylady and @scottcaddy are getting hammered by this storm. Praying for the best for you guys! And everyone in that area :fl

Coffee sounds wonderful - don't suppose you have any ibuprofen around here, do ya?

Lively morning here. I feel sorry for all the other folks that Matthew has spent his fury on, but seeing him getting downgraded as he gets nearer sure don't hurt my feelin's none!

Downgrading is all well & good if it would get this +*+n rain to stop already, at 1100 I had 3.75 inches (and emptied my rain gauges).
Water is getting deep enough to be troubling, and I don't have anymore drainage I can use, they all are full to overflowing now.

Hope that everybody comes thru this OK.

Keep yer chin up!
We built a boy pen today next to the chickens. They were starting to try and figure out how "things" worked and this ain't _____fill in the blank__!
No line breeding around here. So far, pretty quiet. I think they kinda like having their own food spot.
My neighbors are putting up an electric fence around their chickens today and I also gave them some firecrackers. The bear came back and tried to get in again so now they are doing the stress sleep scene.
Have an uneventful night you all in the storm.

I feel for you, buddy. The lowest rail on my pasture fence is slowly disappearing from view . . . .
After I emptied out 3.75 inches around 1100 I looked again when power went out just before 1600 and those rain gauges were already overflowing in only about 5 hours,

over 6 inches of rain and still raining at that time. I have not went out and turned off the Generator for the night, so don't know how much more we have gotten.

Keep yer chin up!

Are your boys for your table or what?
Your neighbors have more faith in a coop door then I would. I would have had that hot fence in place the next day after the 1st visit.
I wish them luck with that bear.

Mornin' all. I'd start the coffee, but the power is still out. It got pretty windy when the eye got past us; strongest stuff we got out of the whole storm. Knocked out the power about 8-ish. Still a bit gusty, though the rain has stopped. I see Matthew is dumping on folks to the north of us still - hope everyone stays safe and dry. We're waiting for daylight to get out and do damage assessment - not much longer now.
