I feel for you Michelle! Husband blocked the eaves with wood because it was easier than wire. Now i leave a window open but i am afraid of drafts. I need to cut more vents. Maybe i can do this today. Moving guineas to coop hoop.

It's a bird feeder; just a different kind of bird being fed.
But yeah, I agree - the pleasure you get from watching birds at the feeder sours when you see them getting eaten. It feels like treachery, or something . . . kinda like when the cat you applaud for catching rats catches a bird right in front of you.
Thanks for the coffee, Sour!![]()
It's a 'bird feeder' indeed. If there is a food source, predators will come. I have 3 feeders in use now, and will soon add a fourth. All are located within easy access to shrubbery/cover. Occasionally a bird will get taken by a hawk, but they are programmed for survival. I must admit that it does aggravate me when a Cardinal gets eaten.
Supposed to get up to 0c today (32F). Yippee! View attachment 1184184
I've found someone who is better suited to care for my leghorns. They're already getting horrible frostbite. I never did win the ventilation argument. Although I'll miss the eggs I won't be too sorry to see them go. This guy has lots of breeds so I may do a trade for hens better suited to this climate.
I never trusted them to start with. They are a bit rattled, i have not grabbed them in a long time. So they are keeping their distance.Look at them all bunched together, bet they are planning an escape Cap. I don't trust them.
don't your bears sleep in the winter time? Around here, as soon as the bears den up, people put out bird feeders.Morning! Thanks for the coffee. No bird feeders here as it brings in the bears.
Thanks to all of the Veterans! We are heading off to wrestling here in a bit but I need to go fill the horse water.
Enjoy the weekend everyone.
Yay, the guineas are in the coop!View attachment 1184450
And i got the two vents installed so i could close the window in the cedar sided coop. Planted 3 blackberry canes, fixed the coop door and rehung it, cleaned out the half of the coop that once had guineas and a bunch of other chores. Not as much stuff froze last night as i was afraid would. But it is freezing tonight again.
