huh..... so is this played all over the US? Or only in certain regions?

Soooo. where were you when you learned to play it?

:old

Did all of y'all play marbels?

There were four squares painted at my elementary school...but I don't ever remember playing. Maybe some kids did, I don't know. I never learned the game myself, or at least I don't remember learning it. My class always played big games together; soccer, wallball, various tags, even make believe games.

Never played marbles.

By the way...Spouse said that as a kid, 4 square was played up near Dallas, Texas....

Dunno...maybe I just didn't play it much, and that is why I don't remember.

is wallball dodge ball?

No, but we played that too.

The outside of our gym was a very tall brickwall, so we'd play different games involving a tennis ball and the wall, like you throw it against the wall and the next person has to catch it in one bounce.

Big day was when the janitor was up there and tossed down all the forsaken tennis balls :lau

Same here, a lot just depends on what you and your friends happen to do on recess. Could have been happening all around you.

I do think I have this vague memory of either watching some kids play or trying it myself. But ether way, it did not make it into our regular recess routine.
