BYC Café

Incidentally Alaskan - Sunday bought 3 Rocky Road and 2 boxes Magnum Ice cream bars (3 in each package) only one Rocky road has still survived. I think it's such a dry cold in the freezer, the others just vaporized.

That's your story, eh? :gig

The garden is fully enclosed in chicken wire. I'm going to wrap the bottom half with hwc and make some hidey holes so they can go outside. 23 of those little things are STINKY brooding in the house. The plastic bucket they're in is already not enough space and the weather is nice so out they go. Hopefully today.
Yeah, i know about stinky. I built a quail brooder with the mini hardware cloth, 1/4". They outgrow it fast!

Hubs is going to build a brooder outside for next time. I got an idea in another thread to use the 1/2" hwc and lay a piece of 1/4" over that for babies. Makes it easier to clean.

WVduckchick - well maybe it hasn't happened yet to ice cream - because I keep a close watch on it.

The ice cubes however do disappear. Our freezer is very cold but it also self defrosts and when it does things like bread, and ore ida potato bags and ice cubes thaw out. Then refreeze and thaw - over and over. The potatoes end up tasting like cardboard, and the ice cubes evaporate - honestly.

It's called 'sublimation.';)

The PBS kids' show 'Arthur' even had a running gag about it. Arthur's little sister DW had put a snowball in the freezer, and when she couldn't find it months later, she was sure Arthur had stolen it. Arthur's friend "the Brain" tries to explain it, but DW isn't buying it. Random references occurred in several episodes when the two characters argued (my kids LOVED "Arthur").

If ice cubes and snowballs can sublimate, surely ice cream can!
