I just saw the most amazing thing! Keep in mind I've owned chickens for a grand total of 11 weeks...my chicks are 11 weeks old.

I was just outside giving them some scratch when a raven flew over head...they stopped everything to watch it. 30 seconds later a raven "crowed", and they all as one amazing organized group dashed their little feathered bottoms into the coop! That was SO cool to see! And I'm so proud of them and their amazing instinct! I also have a POL Chocolate Orpington Pullet that just continued to eat and couldn't be bothered.
 
We watched our 3-yr old cock alert all the girls to something overhead this past weekend. All the girls hurried their little wings off to get to him, under a tree. Their instincts are pretty amazing!

They are so entertaining just to sit and watch! The one I was talking about is my avatar. He's such a good boy, and great food-finder and flock-protector. I love to watch him find food and call them to come see what he found.
 
Sorry Scott, I couldn't wait for the café to open and already finished my 2nd cup of the morning.
