Not my favorite breed. They are venturing further from the coop, finally. But I need to just butcher them. Anyone have a meat bird they prefer? Something better suited to free ranging.

I have had good luck with the red broilers from Strombergs. Can't do the CX at my altitude, so no experience with them.

Red broiler. I will add that to my list. I am planning on pasturing 50 meat birds this summer, I even talked to my neighbor who has all the fancy equipment for processing them. (She wasn't ready to sell it but was willing to let me borrow it. Figure if I start using it maybe she will eventually sell to me). But I need to find a better breed.

Yes, Apparently before she got carpal tunnel she was raising 1200 birds for sale over the summer. She laughed at my paltry dream of 50. But I don't want to get in over my head.
