I've taken a chance with Fudge and she's gone off with her tribe. I've never met a chicken that liked being separated from their tribe. The only time they stay in the house voluntarily is when they are just too sick or too sore to cope with the possibility of a rooster mating them. Fudge has done it twice in the past half hour. While resting she got right into the middle of the tribe under the bush and just kept her head down. Fat Bird gave her a few pecks, as did Ruffles which is par for the course when a junior hen has been away from the tribe overnight. Once that bit is over it seems they're accepted as if nothing has happened. Fudge is in the tribe coop laying an egg as I type this.
Confining her to the house just causes her stress. Yesterday she stayed of her own accord; this morning after a while she wanted out. As mentioned above it didn't go well and she came back to the house with a bit of herding. Being in and with a tribe seems to be the most important thing for a chicken.
I'll pick her up later and give her another clean and some eye drops and worry.
