I go for my shots at CVS which took over Tarzhay's pharmacy. But still have my favorite
pharmacist since 1990's.

There is a difference in tetanus shots. One is for "just stepped on rusty nail etc." the other is a booster shot you get every 10 years. I keep track of them but, so does my pharmacist.

I prefer getting them in the store, they accept my insurance and I usually have no charge or just a couple bucks. NO administration charge like at the doctor's office and NO charge for an office call. If I had a need for a doctor, I would go there.

I always ask pharmacist if I need any shots, new ones etc. He is excellent at giving them and sometimes gives me a candy bar from his private stock. Even the other pharmacist is excellent at giving shots. One time a new pharm employee was being taught how to give them - on ME. Didn't feel a thing. Honestly I used to have a fit about going for a shot but not since getting them here.

Don't know if the Tarzhay chain does things the same. But at ours you get a $ 5.cpn. to use in the store, with any shot. Plus with every 9 prescriptions another $ 5 cpn.

Already got the flu shot. Seniors sometimes get shots tailored to them. I've gotten the shindrix shot ( for shingles) Pneumonia shots when due. I am very proud of myself for NOT needing someone to drag me in for them.

PS I don't have stock in the company. In fact I rarely shop at the store. They remodeled ours and regular prices have gotten higher. So then I go to Walmart if I can find the same products. We are lucky in that we have both(super stores) in one area (plus Kohls,Office Max, Subway, Sam's club etc. Also a Menards a short walk away and an AMC Movie theatre.

Sadly the women on the senior bus, don't bother with getting shots, even free ones. One never goes to a doctor or dentist, she just pulls her own teeth if she feels the need. SMH.

If you are going to get the tetnus shot, do yourself a favor and work the arm you get the shot in.
In 1993 my Appaloosa mare split my upper lip nearly all the way through by rearing up then coming down on my face with her mouth. The tetnus shot hurt worse.
So in the flood of 2006 we had to get tetnus shots and I remembered the pain of the one I had in 1993 so I figured the next day I wouldn't be able to use that arm. As soon as I got home from getting the shot I spent the day painting my entire basements block walls. My arm never hurt the following morning.
I repeated this again after the 2011 flood "just in case" tetnus booster. No pain.
I've heard that tetanus shots are pretty painful, but that sounds god awful! I guess I just need to (wo)man up and do it, even just for future injuries. Thank you for the advice :)

PS Honestly I never noticed that the tetanus shots were painful. The only time shots hurt was when I was a little girl getting them from my pediatric doctor. I remember I needed 3 shots for school and he told the nurse to give 1 in EACH ARM. What???

I wish I was more like that, DD. Just go do it and be done with it. I like to bury my head in the sand and pretend like I'm invincible :p I would definitely not pull my own teeth, though! That's madness.
