On the way to the vet, Ben screamed in the back of the car three times. It's a 12 minute trip. He yelped again getting out of the car.
The Dr. suspects a spinal issue. Probably a cervical bulging disc. Ben is going on Prednisone and Gabapentin.
I insisted on him getting something before we left the clinic so the doc gave him a shot of Cortisone. We didn't leave for another 15 minutes after the shot.
Ben didn't cry out even once on the car trip home and is already moving around so much better.
My first Doberman, Amber, had a cervical injury that manifested itself about 3 years after my horse kicked her (bare foot, thank goodness) in the side of her neck. Amber went on a single course of Prednisone, never wore a collar or halter again and never had another episode of extreme pain.
I hope Ben will respond similarly.

I felt nearly as much relief as Ben did after we left the vet. I think we'll both sleep much better tonight. My poor boy.

Oh, poor Ben! I wish you both the best. It's heart wrenching when they are in pain. I hope that fixes him up. I may have asked you before, but do you have animals chiropractors around?

He is SO much better right now. He's acting normal, looks comfortable in his bed and is sleeping peacefully.
I am hoping he responds like Amber did. Of course this means no more free running in the fields and he is going to HATE that.
I'll have to get a harness for him but if that stops those horrible spasms and he remains comfortable the rest of his days, it's worth it.
We do not have an animal chiropractor in our area.

I cringed the whole time reading this, but feeling very hopeful now.

Wow over 100 to read to get here you guys have been gabby but good talk to one of the chiropractors as that one may know who does work on animals had a tervuren pup got broadsided bu he older brother poor thing couldn't even lift he head tow adjustments she was back to herself

Never had work done on mine, but my aunt has on her horses and swears by it. Makes sense. I go to the chiropractor once a month, that's the extent of my doctor visits! Advil, coffee, Miller lite and clam are my medications 'Cept for that damn Tdap...

They will not touch me anymore with the closing on my spinal column in my neck they could paralyze me not my wish I like moving moving around myself
