No showing here although we have obedience trialed our golden retrievers. Dog that I just 'rescued' won the first trial entered, and I will run her on Fri. in the 15" female class.

Afternoon, everyone! The "bomb" that detonated turned out to be a pop bottle with nuts and bolts inside that did nothing of the sort. While I'm glad it wasn't actually what they thought, the fear monger'y nonsense is a bit ridiculous. Good news, in any case.
High of 70° today and hoping it's not the very last one of the year. Wishing the café a wonderful day! Thanks for the coffee, as always. I made a fresh pot if anyone has a hankering.
Do you ever take pictures of the trials Mr sourland? No showing here although we have obedience trialed our golden retrievers. Dog that I just 'rescued' won the first trial entered, and I will run her on Fri. in the 15" female class.
Love the pictures, Shad. Funny how some chooks are pretty clueless & others smart as. How much land do you have there? The chickens made me angry today. To be fair to myself it very rarely happens.
The three witches (Bracket, Hinge and Nolia) lost a chick today. The mother and grandmother of all the bantams here now was blue spot. Her life partner was a rooster called Harold. The pair of them ran the tightest ship imaginable. Bluespot didn’t lose one chick in all the time she was bringing the chicks up and Harold was always on hand. Punch, the current senior rooster is the son of Harold and Blue spot.
Harold died three years ago and Blue Spot took over tribe leadership despite there being other males (Punch and Mag) She was as good as any rooster, except maybe for her dead partner Harold, but she ruled rather than led and her boys stopped thinking for themselves it seems. It has been rough for Punch. His mum and dad and his only sister have all died around him. For a few weeks after Bluespots death he did try to lead but he took on Notch in a fight and lost. For a week at least he hung around the edge of the tribe whining. He has fought Notch since and won and Notch will try to avoid Punch now, not so much that he won’t fight Punch but because Mag joins in.
Anyway, Punch is not pulling his weight. He should have been with the hens and he wasn’t. I had passed him and under a bush napping shortly before I discovered a chick was missing. Mag, his younger brother is better but not by much.
Anyway, they are what they are but I believe if one of the roosters had been doing his job the chick would still be here.
The tribe has a further problem, the lead hen is Bracket with the neurological problem. She’s an odd hen. Tonight she tried to get the chicks to go up the magnolia tree. She’s absolutely correct but she’s a couple of weeks too early.
Sorry about the pic quality. I didn’t have time to set the camera up.
Here is Bracket up the tree with the others who are playing with a full deck staying firmly on the ground.

Knock and her chicks are spending more and more time with their tribe. It’s been painfully slow. The problem is, Knock is the most junior hen. She’s a first time mum as well. Here they all are getting the evening bugs.

Wait, what bomb? I missed it.
Morning, all. We were having a nice, calm day around here today...News flash on the radio came across that an IED was detonated at a local elementary school playground. Elementary school. I'll never understand what goes on in these peoples heads. Thank God, no one was hurt. All schools are on lockdown until further notice.

I would like to see some pictures if you remember to take some one day.Something that I am seriously remiss about.
