Yesterday morning the sheriffs dept. said that a IED was detonated at a local elementary school. Kids were bused to a nearby schoolhouse and all other local schools put on lockdown. Turns out a transient had picked up the pop bottle at a nearby jobsite and tossed as he walked through the playground

Glad it wasn't anything serious Meg. It is nice to know action was taken to keep the kids safe asap, just in case.

Very true. Better safe than sorry. Though it makes you wonder who made the determination that something had exploded when it hadn't. I would think they would confirm before putting that bit out there

It's something you have to accept if you free range.
60% (about) don't make it to adulthood. The hens seem to accept this. I have to as well.

I have been busy winterizing the coops and hutches. Luckily I assigned a letter to each hutch so I know what plywood goes where. We have not had a freeze yet, but not waiting for that.
