DD3 has a volleyball game today. The parents on her/our team are all good sports. We clap for the good plays, we clap for the bad plays, we clap for the other team, we give them double thumbs up even if it doesn't make it over the next.

Last week there was apparently some trouble with the game/teams ahead of ours. From what we heard a few of the parents were angry, yelling at coaches, yelling at the refs & openly bad mouthing the kids. Threats were thrown & fighting almost broke out. When we got there for our game the vibe was tense, the coaches looked tense & one of them was trying to calm down a parent saying, "Just stop yelling, no more yelling." We had just walked in & the coach looked right at us & said, "Everyones happy now, right?!" DH & I totally confused were like, "Um.... Huh?"

So fast fwd about 15mins to DD's game. Our teams parents were doing our whole, good sport thing, but the other teams parents we yelling super aggressively at their kids thru the entire game. "MOVE YOUR FEET!" "CHARGE THE NET!" "WHATS THE MATTER WITH YOU GUYS?" and one particularly irritating woman when someone missed the ball yelled, "WHAT? OH COME ON!" It was disgusting & I felt so bad for those kids. This is 11yr old girls playing beginning volleyball by the way.

During the game some old man got up and walked over to the bleachers next to us to berate a little boy who had been running in & out of the gym every 5 or 10mins from the outside in the play yard. It was thick with tension in there. When the game was over we grabbed DD & practically ran out of there.

Sorry for the wall of text, but I don't know what to expect today. Our other 2 games had been perfectly fine. Maybe it was just a full moon thing.

Some parents don't get the bigger picture. Sorry you and the girls had to experience that.

I got just short of two kilos of walnuts out of their shells.
I'm a bit concerned about my dried figs. I don't think I've packed them right.

Nah, it's a parent thing, trying to re-live the failures they had at sports when they were kids.:p

I just keep thinking, the teams will be reshuffled in December/January & we might get stuck with some of these a holes. :barnie I will not be able to play nicely if an adult is bad mouthing my kid. :hmm

Obnoxious parents ruin it for the kids. Sorry that happened Roomy.

We saw the same bad behavior when my boys played in Little League, that's one reason they quit. It just wasn't fun for the players, the umps or the spectators.

That's a whole lot of walnuts Shad! Do you keep them for your own use, or do you have a market for them? (I'd buy some if you were closer.)
