That's why I started keeping Cochins and silkies.
Yes, one of my wacky creations.

Thanks, it's not symmetrical, but still keeps you warm. It is on my bed right now.
That's why I started keeping Cochins and silkies.
All of the birds I have had that went broody were either Silkies, Bantam Cochins/Cochin crosses, or Buff Orpingtons (all of which seem to have a reputation for broodiness). Over the years, I've had RIR's, Leghorns, Barred Rocks, Polish, EE's, and a few others, living in identical conditions (even free-range), and they never once even tried.
I guess Fabio is sitting on his perch thinking I could have told her when one of the hens go tilt I'll seem like a lovely guy.I just can't believe my "luck" then.
I've got my FOURTH broody pullet in the crate now. One comes out, the next goes in.
And this fourth one is my PBR pullet. She is normally the sweetest thing in the flock. She is a nasty, snotty, screeching, pecking, BITING (you all know how I feel about THAT particular sin) raging lunatic!!!

You know, THERE'S the silver lining on my broody girl cloud. He DOES seem like quite the gentleman compared to at least the latest to fall under the spell of the Broody Fairy.I guess Fabio is sitting on his perch thinking I could have told her when one of the hens go tilt I'll seem like a lovely guy.![]()
@Bunnylady good luck.
@Shadrach - I'd last about a day at that job. I'd strip my gears when the third or fourth obnoxious person in a row showed up - and I have my doubts about you.![]()
That's funny, I forgot about the customers as wellWas day dreaming of wandering around a big garden all day...by myself
