It's pretty serious here. The only realistic option is to cut the tree down, take the stump out and make a fire pit in the hole. Some pine species seem to fare better than others.A lot of the pines here are dying due to beetles. We have had quite a few fall over. Many just lean on other trees to become widow makers .
The pine trees are not much good for the chickens because there are not many low branches. They tend to grow and give canopy cover mostly. The really annoying thing is nobody wants the wood.
